Vacation Bible School - Everest

Who can remember being on summer vacation and chanting the mantra, "I am bored." At least for part of the holiday children could attend Vacation Bible School, which was more like camp and more fun than school 😊 👏

The theme for the 2016 VBS at church was "Everest, Conquering Challenges with God's Mighty Power," where children were encouraged to embark on an expedition and overcome obstacles with God's awesome power. The setting for this VBS backdrop was in a warm, tropical Caribbean country and so our 'Everest' would be Blue Mountains or the Hellshire Hills... 😊. The wildlife was represented by the butterlfy, iguana and parrot:

We were on a low budget and so recycled material such as cardboard was utilised. This cardboard was cut out in various shapes and then glued, taped and painted. Powdered and acrylic paint was used and a light glitter spray was added for a glaze.

A tent was installed in a corner (the children loved this) and some potted plants added some greenery to the scene.  In addition a campfire was formed in the centre with red cellophane and dry wood.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and do not lean on your own understanding;
 in all your ways acknowledge Him,
    and He will direct your path.

Proverbs 3: 5-6

The children explore, have to love their curiosity and sense of adventure. What are the chances that they are all wearing red? 😄 VBS 2013

Blessings 💙
